This service is for faculty and staff using St. Thomas-owned Windows laptops and tablets.
Due to a required security update to our campus Wi-Fi network, your current Windows laptop or tablet might not be able to connect to the UST Wi-Fi network until you perform the following actions. We advise you to perform these steps at your earliest convenience before you arrive on campus:
How to update required Wi-Fi certificates from off-campus
- Connect to the St. Thomas VPN by logging in to the GlobalProtect app on your laptop or tablet. GlobalProtect can be accessed by clicking on the globe icon in the taskbar in the bottom-right corner of your screen.

If you are prompted for an address, use ust-vpn.stthomas.edu.
- Stay connected for one hour. This is to ensure that your computer has had enough time to check for applicable updates from our system.
- Open the Software Center app. You can search for "Software Center" in the taskbar.

- In Software Center, choose "Wi-Fi Update - August 2020" and click Install. If you see "Uninstall" next to the "Wi-Fi Update - August 2020," it means that the update already installed on your computer, so you do not have to do anything else!
Note: If you do not immediately see the "Wi-Fi Update - August 2020" option, please wait 5-10 minutes and check again. You may also contact us to troubleshoot.

- That's it! You may close the Software Center and disconnect from the VPN.
How to update required Wi-Fi certificates from on-campus
If you are unable to perform the steps outlined above before you make it to campus, you can also receive the required update by using a wired (Ethernet) connection in your office when you arrive. If you have a docking station in your office for your laptop or tablet, you may simply dock your device to connect to the wired network.
