Network Access: Connect a Mobile Device to the secured UST wifi

This service is for faculty, staff, and students.

The information below are custom settings you may need to enter on your device when authenticating to the UST wifi network for the first time from your mobile device.

*Please note that not all mobile devices even of the same OS type (iOS, Android, ChromeOS, etc) will work exactly the same or have exactly the same settings listed or required. We've provided the best general outline available for each device.

iOS Settings for St. Thomas Network

Make sure you are only connecting to UST. If you've previously connected to UST-Open and/or Eduroam make sure to forget these network connections from your device prior to connecting to UST.

Choose the UST network from the list of internet options. You may be prompted to enter the following information:

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Server CA certificate: Do not check
  • Identity: your St. Thomas username (just the first four letters and four numbers)
  • Password: your St. Thomas password
  • All other fields should be left blank.

To avoid or resolve issues with connecting to wifi from iOS it is also important to make sure your device is kept updated (current iOS)

 

Android Settings for St. Thomas Network

Make sure you are only connecting to UST. If you've previously connected to UST-Open and/or Eduroam make sure to forget these network connections from your device prior to connecting to UST.

Choose the UST network from the list of internet options. You may be prompted to enter the following information:

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Identity: your St. Thomas username (just the first four letters and four numbers)
  • Password: your St. Thomas password
  • Server CA Certificate: Use system certificates
  • Online Certificate Status: Don't Validate
  • Domain: stthomas.edu
  • Auto Reconnect: Toggled On
  • Tap "Advanced" or "More Settings"
    • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
    • Anonymous Identity: your St. Thomas username (just the first four letters and four numbers)
    • IP Settings: DHCP
    • Proxy: none
    • Metered Network: Detect Automatically
    • MAC Address Type: Phone MAC
  • All other fields should be left blank.

 

ChromeOS Settings for St. Thomas Network

Choose the UST network from the list of internet options. You may be prompted to enter the following information:

  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPv2
  • Server CA certificate: Do not check
  • Identity: your St. Thomas username (just the first four letters and four numbers)
  • Password: your St. Thomas password
  • All other fields should be left blank.
