Install the GlobalProtect app

If you are connecting from on-campus, please skip ahead to the next section.

If you are connecting from off-campus, you will need to install the GlobalProtect app on your Mac.

  1. Go to https://ust-vpn.stthomas.edu.
  2. Click the link to "Download Mac 32/64 bit GlobalProtect agent"

  3. Run the downloaded "GlobalProtect.pkg" file to install it on your computer.

Connect to an appropriate network

If you are on-campus, be sure you are connected to the UST WiFi network. Make sure you are also NOT connected to GlobalProtect.

If you are off-campus, you must connect to the St. Thomas VPN using GlobalProtect before you may access the remote lab computers. To do this:

  1. Locate the GlobalProtect icon in the Menu Bar (top of your screen), and click it.
  2. In the Portal field, enter ust-vpn.stthomas.edu.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. A window will appear, requiring you to authenticate using your St. Thomas username, password, and a multi-factor authentication prompt.
  5. GlobalProtect will show that you are Connected.

Find an available computer and connect

The Remote Access Dashboard is designed to show currently available computers. It is important that you visit the Remote Access Dashboard when you are initiating a connection. Do not reuse a previously-downloaded .rdp file.

  1. Browse to https://remoteaccess.labstats.com/stthomas-labs.
  2. Locate an available computer from the appropriate lab for your course.
  3. Click the Connect button.

  4. In the window that appears, click Download to download the .rdp file for that computer.

  5. Open the downloaded .rdp file.

  6. Enter your St. Thomas username and password, including "@stthomas.edu," and click Continue.

  7. You are then logged-in to a remote Windows computer.

  8. When you are finished, please "Log Out" or "Restart" the computer.
