This service is for faculty, staff, and students.
The University solution to wirelessly share content to displays or projectors is the Crestron AirMedia. This device allows you to share media from any smart phone, tablet, or laptop to a room AV system without having to connect an HDMI cable. This feature is only offered in certain classrooms, meeting rooms and event spaces.
How To Use:
- Select Wireless or AirMedia as the projected source on the AV control system. The naming convention and how to do this may vary slightly by space so if unclear on how to do this please consult the AV instructions for that specific room.
- Make sure the device to be shared is connected to UST WiFi (wireless screen mirroring will not work on the UST-Open network).
- Follow the device specific instructions below to connect to the AirMedia.
First Time Use, Install the App:
When AirMedia is selected on the room AV system it will show a splash screen on the display or projector.
- Enter the IP address shown on bottom left side of the projected image in any browser address bar.
- Follow the link to download the appropriate version of the app for your device.
Once the App Is Installed:
IOS Devices (iPhone and iPad)
- Launch the Crestron AirMedia App.
- In the “Enter receiver’s address” field in the App enter the IP address shown on the bottom left of the projected image.
- A four-digit confirmation code will now be shown on the projected image. Enter this code where prompted in the App.
- Follow the instructions shown in the App to access Control Center on your IOS device. (NOTE: How to do this can vary depending on the version of IOS, the most recent version is a swipe down and left from top right of the screen.)
- In Control Center, select Screen Mirroring and choose the AirMedia IP that is shown.
- Enter the four-digit confirmation code again when prompted.
- You will now be presenting. Exit Control Center and minimize the AirMedia app and share whatever content you would like.
- When finished you must disconnect on the AirMedia app AND stop Screen Mirroring in Control Center to stop presenting.
IMPORTANT: When using an IOS device once disconnected you must wait a few minutes before attempting to reconnect. On IOS devices there is a known issue where if you disconnect and then attempt to reconnect too quickly you will no longer be able to choose AirMedia in screen mirroring. If you mistakenly do this there are two ways to fix the problem.
- Have another device connect and disconnect from the AirMedia to reset the connections.
- Restart the IOS device to clear the problem.
