Using Resource Lists to deliver accessible course materials in Canvas

Body

What are Resource Lists?

Resource Lists are a tool provided by the UST Libraries that allow students to access course materials (such as books, articles, audio, and videos) using library resources. Lists can be assembled independently by a faculty member or in collaboration with a librarian or a course materials specialist.

Once enabled, your Resource List is seamlessly integrated into the navigation menu of your Canvas course. Resource Lists centralize your reading assignments in one place and can be organized in any way that is beneficial for your instruction purposes.

Benefits of using Resource Lists as an alternative to scanning and uploading photocopies

  • Copyright compliance: Linking to library resources avoids unauthorized copying and distribution of copyrighted materials.

  • Digital accessibility: Most academic publishers offer structured content with markup that allows material to be accessed in a variety of formats using assistive technology.

How to Get Started

  • The Resource Lists in Canvas page in OneStThomas includes a self-paced training course, course materials request form, and other helpful resources.
