In line with the University's commitment to sustainability, the Executive and Health Care MBA programs will primarily utilize digital books and articles, which are included in the cost of the program. At your first on-campus session you will receive a complimentary iPad that you can use for accessing course materials, including Canvas, our Learning Management System, and Cengage, an online textbook library. This iPad is yours to keep and is not gatekept by the University. You can decide whether or not to use the iPad as your main source of accessing materials, but you can also use any other device that you prefer (laptop, other tablet, etc.).
Canvas is your learning management system (LMS). It connects tools and resources in one comprehensive course site. All of your courses will use Canvas as their primary delivery platform. Most, if not all, of your reading material will be accessed directly through the Canvas course. While accessible by internet browser, you might also prefer to download the Canvas Student app. You can learn more about Canvas and Canvas navigation by working through the modules in your Canvas Community Site for your specific cohort.
Some of your courses will utilize textbooks and learning guides from Cengage, an online textbook and course materials library. When an instructor plans to use a title from Cengage, the program will purchase a Cengage Unlimited account on your behalf. With this, you will have access not only to the course materials required by your instructor, but also the entirety of the Cengage library. This unlimited account includes access for one year, so you'll want to be sure to access any additional material during that time period. More information will be provided to you about Cengage and how to access the Unlimited account when the time comes. In the meantime, you can download the Cengage Read app on your iPad or tablet.
For the majority of books in the program, we will be utilizing a platform called Amazon Bookshelf. This platform allows program staff to send you Amazon vouchers in the equivalent amount of the digital book so you can purchase them directly and have them sent to your iPad. If you decide that you would instead prefer to have a physical book, you simply select that option and pay the difference at checkout. Over the years, we've found that students have differing wants for book format and this will allow you to choose for each individual book and class. You will receive more information about Amazon Bookshelf when it's time to order them. Please download the Amazon Shopping app so you can purchase digital books and send them to your Amazon Kindle account.
The easiest way to access your digital books on your iPad is through the Amazon Kindle App. When you purchase a digital book you will simply tell Amazon to send it to your linked Kindle.
