When printing on a Mac, the options to toggle between Black/White and Color can be buried in the menu options, and these menu options can vary depending on printer model. This article will explain how to toggle these settings on both HP printers and Sharp Multi-Function Printers (MFPs).
HP Printers
- Open the menu to print (File > Print) and select your printer from the drop-down list

- Scroll down and click on Printer Options to expand the menu

- Under Printer Options, click Color

- Check the box for Print Color as Gray and click OK.

- Your print should now be set to black and white! To make this process quicker in the future, you can save this as a preset by navigating to the Presets dropdown in the print menu and selecting Save Current Settings as Preset
Sharp MFPs
- Open the menu to print (File > Print) and select your printer from the drop-down list

- Scroll down and click on Printer Options to expand the menu
