This article describes how to connect to a network printer from a St. Thomas macOS computer.
Use the Self Service app to connect to network printers
Network printers managed by ITS are available in the Self Service app on your St. Thomas Mac. To add a printer:
- Launch the Self Service app. (Hint: if you do not see the icon below in your dock, search for "Self Service" by pressing command+space.)

- When Self Service opens, use the search box in the top-left to search for the printer you wish to connect to. You may search for the building and room (i.e. "LIB1FL") or the 4-digit printer ID on the device (i.e. "1070").

- Locate the printer you wish to add and click the "Install" button.

- The printer is added to your list of installed printers in System Settings.

Adjust available finishing options for an installed printer
Note that some printers will automatically add specific finishing options to your printer configuration when adding via Self Service. If you do not see options for additional paper trays or finishing options when printing, check the printer configuration in System Settings.
- Open the System Settings app.

- Scroll to the bottom in the left navigation to find "Printers & Scanners," then click on the printer you wish to configure.

- Click the "Options & Supplies..." button.

- Choose the "Options" section at the top, then review settings below. Most Sharp MFPs on campus have the following features:
- Input Tray Options: Three Trays
- Large Capacity Tray: Not Installed
- Output Tray Options: Finisher
- Punch Module: Not Installed
- If you have questions about your specific MFP or printer, submit a ticket to the Print, Scan, and Fax team.
