This service is for faculty and staff.
In the event your Apple device needs to be repaired due to liquid damage, cracked display, or your device no longer powers on, please follow the steps below.
Overview
Apple repairs are not performed on-site. Instead, our Apple Hardware & Software Support techs will ship your device out to an Apple official repair center. Once Apple receives your device, the repair will take 3-5 business days to complete.
Submit TDX Ticket
You can create a new Apple Hardware & Software Support ticket by visiting our service catalog page linked below or by contacting the Tech Desk at 651-962-6230.
Apple Hardware & Software Support - Service Catalog
When submitting your ticket or calling the Tech Desk, please provide as much information as possible about what’s happening with your Apple device. The more information you provide, the faster our technicians can set up your repair with Apple.
If your device has accidental damage caused by liquid spills, drops, or cracked screens, your department is responsible for any repairs fees. Please include an index code you would like potential repair fees charged to.
If you would like to check out a loaner device while Apple completes the repair, please include this info when submitting your ticket or calling the Tech Desk.
Loaner devices are only meant to be used in a temporary fashion; not as a replacement device. Your data will not be migrated to the loaner device nor will third-party applications be installed.
Any data you may need while Apple repairs your device needs to be saved to your St. Thomas OneDrive account before picking up the loaner device.
Note: The technician assigned to your ticket will reach out when your loaner device is ready for pickup.
Backup Your Data to OneDrive
If your device is still in working condition, please upload important files to your St. Thomas OneDrive account.
Having your files saved in OneDrive ensures your data is safe if Apple has to replace your hard drive during the repair process.
Note: If your device does not power on due to liquid damage or hard drive failure, and you do not have a recent backup of your data, your data is possibly unrecoverable.
For more information about how to upload your data to OneDrive, please check out our knowledge base article: How To Backup Mac Data To OneDrive.
Drop Off Your Device
When you’re ready to drop off your Apple device for repair, please visit our walk-up desk on the first floor of OSF on the St. Paul campus or the walk-up desk in SCH 300 on the Minneapolis campus.
Note: If you are picking up a loaner device, please wait until the technician assigned to your ticket has notified you that your loaner device is ready for pickup.
Pick Up Your Device
After Apple has completed the repair, our technicians will verify a few components of the device and notify you via your ticket when the device is ready for pickup.
