When a student needs to register for a class/section you are teaching, you may approve that registration in Murphy Online by granting the student an override. Faculty overrides, once entered, allow the student to self-register for the class/section.
NOTE: These instructions will be updated when override functionality is added to New Murphy Online (SSB9).
How to Enter a Faculty Override
Step 1: Log in to Murphy Online
- Open the Enterprise Application page via OneStThomas
- Select Banner Self-Service (Murphy) - NEW
- Then click on “Log in to Murphy Online secured area”
OR
- Visit https://murphy.stthomas.edu/
- Select “Log in to Murphy Online secured area”
Step 2: Faculty Services
Open the Classes & Grades tab and select Registration Overrides - Faculty
You can elect to click the bookmark icon on this tile to save it to your Home tab in New Murphy.
Step 3: Term and Student Selection
- Select a term for the override. Select the academic term for which the student is registering,
- Enter the 9-digit student ID for the student who you are granting the override.
- Click Submit, or hit Enter on your keyboard, to move forward.
- Once you see the proper student’s name on the next screen, click Submit again to continue.
Step 4: Enter the Override
|
There are multiple drop-down menus you can use to indicate the type of override(s) you wish to enter for the student. Select the override, then select the appropriate course from the adjoining drop-down menu.
Once you have entered all the applicable overrides needed for this student, click Submit to save the override(s) to the student record.
Keep in mind, overrides entered via Murphy Online will only work until the last day to add a class without instructor permission for the selected term, as defined on the Academic Calendar. After that date, students must contact the Office of Student Data and Registrar to register and faculty permission should be submitted to registrar@stthomas.edu.
