Professional Development portal - Getting Started

This service is for faculty and staff. 

 

St. Thomas uses a tool called Bridge for its professional development, workshops and live training opportunities. You may search the Professional Development catalog for training you're interested in, and some courses may even be required by your department or unit.  You can manage all these offerings and see a calendar of live training events through the Professional Development Portal.  

Finding and Registering for Professional Development Opportunities

  1. Click the Apps and Tools icon at the top of the screen. 
  2. Scroll down to locate the Professional Development tile and click on it.

On the next screen, note the areas on the Professional Development Portal: 

  1. The portal displays "My Learning" which includes courses that are required of you, courses you've registered for,
    and courses you've completed.  
  2. Click the "Learning Library" to explore all the training opportunities available to you. 
  3. Click the "Training Calendar" to see upcoming training opportunities in a calendar view.
  4. Training you've registered for show up under "Added by you" after you are enrolled.

When you find a course/workshop you want:

  1. Hover over the course/workshop tile. 
  2. Click on View Sessions

On the next screen:

  1. Notice the individual "sessions" that are offered to see which one fits your schedule.
  2. Click the Register button next to the session you want. 
  3. Find other upcoming workshops by clicking the Date at the top, or "View Full Calendar."

Accessing the Session You've Registered For

After you've registered for a workshop or training session, you can access the live training either by clicking a link in an email, or through the Professional Development Portal.

Through the Email Confirmation (with .ics calendar attachment) or Email Notification

  1. You will receive an email confirmation after registration is complete. You can add the .ics calendar invite to your calendar. Clicking on the link in your calendar event will launch the Zoom session. 
  2. Approximately 30-90 minutes ahead of the session, you will get an email notification with a Join Session link. Clicking this will launch the Zoom meeting. Please note: If you access the session before the host opens the meeting, you may be asked to wait.

Through the Professional Development Portal on One.StThomas

  1. View your Professional Development Portal and find the "Added by You" section. 
  2. Click on the title of the course/workshop. 
  3. Once the workshop description opens, look for and click on the Web Conf. button to enter the Zoom meeting. (If necessary, click the arrow to expand). 
    Note: If you try to access the workshop before it starts you may be prevented from entering until your host has opened the Zoom meeting room.

Accessing Post-workshop Materials after your session

Following the workshop, your facilitator will publish and make available the Zoom recording and Presentation Slides.  You can access post-workshop materials in the Professional Development Portal.

  1. Click the Learn button at Left
  2. Scroll down to "Added by You"
  3. Hover over the Workshop and click Details
  4. Workshop materials show at bottom
