Degree Evaluation Responsive Dashboard Guide

This guide highlights important areas of the degree evaluation, shows where those items were located in Classic Dashboard and provides the current location in the Responsive Dashboard.

Student Header

The student header provides useful identifiers at the top of the student’s degree evaluation worksheets, including student ID, Name, Degree and other important student information.

NOTE: The catalog term in the Student Header is the term the student initially enrolled in the program.

Degree Requirements

The Degree Requirements section lists requirements needed to complete a degree.

The Responsive Dashboard degree requirements block has a similar format to the Classic version, with a list of checkboxes indicating whether or not a requirement has been fulfilled. In Responsive Dashboard, users have the ability to collapse or expand sections to quickly navigate to the block they want. The rest of the degree audit is very similar on both dashboards.

Contact Advisor/Student

In Classic, a student could click on the advisor name in the Student Header and generate an email to the advisor. Similarly, advisors could click on the student name to email the student. In Responsive Dashboard, click the envelope icon in the top-right corner of the page. The advisor name or student name will appear in a new window, which the user can select to generate an email. A pop-up blocker may interfere with this functionality.

Save as PDF

Just like in the Classic Dashboard, users can save an audit. However, the Responsive Dashboard does not have a Save as PDF button. Instead, click the printer icon in the top-right corner of the page. A pop-up blocker may interfere with this functionality.

What-If Tool

The What-If tool allows students to apply courses to different majors and minors whether the courses have been completed or are in-progress.  In Responsive Dashboard, the Look Ahead audit has been combined with the What-If analysis to improve efficiency. The What-If tab is located to the right of the Academic tab.

The user must select the catalog year, degree type, and major. Some majors also require a concentration and/or minor. Be sure to select the approved combinations of major, concentration, minor and degree type based on the catalog year chosen. Variations in catalog term can cause incorrect responses.

Future Coursework What-If

If a student is not interested in changing their major, but instead wants to know how a future course may affect their audit, the Responsive Dashboard can do that.

Simply check the "Use current curriculum" checkbox and enter a Subject and Course Number. The What-If tool will place any courses added in the appropriate places within the audit.

The Future Coursework What-If can also be used in combination with the major change What-If. If "Use current curriculum" is left unchecked, the Future Coursework is added at the bottom of the list.

Legend/Icons

Responsive Dashboard comes with an updated legend of icons that look slightly different from the Classic version. Classic icons were square, whereas Responsive icons are circular.

  • Icon color coding has not changed. Complete requirements are shown in green, requirements not complete will be red and requirements with classes in-progress will be blue.
  • Hovering over an icon in Responsive will display the alt-text for the icon.
