On occasion, users who have upgraded their Windows 11 based PC to the latest version, 24H2, are encountering a bug where attempts to enter user credentials for accessing UST WIFI fail. Specifically, users may notice that they cannot type into the username and password field of the Windows Security prompt that appears, and in some instances, cannot close or interact with the prompt without completely restarting the PC.
So far this has only been seen on devices not owned and managed by St. Thomas.
This issue is known ot Microsoft and there is no Estimated Time of Resolution at this time.
Work Around
At this time, the best known resolution to this issue is to perform the following steps.
- First, verify you are indeed on Windows 11 24H2: Right click on the Windows (Start Menu) icon on the toolbar and select SYSTEM. Version information is listed under "Windows Specifications".
- Next, right click on the Windows (Start Menu) icon on the toolbar and select NETWORK CONNECTIONS.
- Select "WIFI"
- Select "Manage Known Networks"
- Locate the network named UST, and click the FORGET button on the right hand side. You may be prompted to confirm this.
- Once the network has been forgotten, return to the main WIFI page.
- Select Show Available Networks
