Banner Admin or Murphy "Authentication Failed" Error

In recent updates Chrome and Edge introduced new security changes that break authentication for certain internal apps or services. The browser starts blocking local network access checks or third‑party cookies, which causes the external auth provider to fail.

 

Error when trying to access Banner Admin or Murphy in Chrome or Edge:

Current Solution for Google Chrome:

Adjust the following Chrome setting:

  1. While logged into Google Chrome, enter the following address in the URL bar:
    • chrome://flags/#local-network-access-check
  2. From the Local Network Access Checks dropdown menu, change the setting to Disabled.Uploaded Image (Thumbnail)
  3. Completely close Google Chrome
  4. Reopen the browser and access Banner Admin again.

Adjust the following Edge setting:

  1. While logged into Google Chrome, enter the following address in the URL bar:
    • edge://flags/#local-network-access-check
  2. From the Local Network Access Checks dropdown menu, change the setting to Disabled.
  3. Completely close Google Chrome
  4. Reopen the browser and access Banner Admin again.
