Badging: How to create your St. Thomas Canvas Credentials (Badgr) account

Body

This service is for faculty, staff, and students.

St. Thomas works with the third-party badging platform called Canvas Credentials (formerly called Badgr). This is our badging plaform for those who are earning St. Thomas badges/microcredentials. This article explains how to create your badge account.

Please create your Cavas Credential (Badgr) account at the start of your badge or microcredential course so you will be able to access your badge once you have earned that badge/digital microcredential. Your badge account will also provide you with a digital "backpack", a place where you can store and easily share your digital badges and microcredentials.

Note: Not sure if you have a Canvas Credentials (Badgr) account already? No worries, follow these steps and you will be told if you already have an account.

FAQs:

  • If you have another Canvas Credentials (Badgr) account with a personal e-mail you can link the accounts by following these instructions from article: Managing your Badgr Account
  • Not sure if you have a Canvas Credentials (Badgr) account already? No worries. If you are not sure if you have a Canvas Credentials (Badgr) account yet, still follow these steps. You will be told if you already have an account.
  • What if you want to have other email addresses associated with your badge account? That is fine, just create your account initially with your St. Thomas email so that your St. Thomas badges in Canvas can "talk to" your Badgr backpack as you earn them. You will be able add in other email addressed to your Badgr backpack so in the future (even when you are not at St. Thomas) you will still have your badges. However, for your initial account creation use your official St. Thomas email (not vanity email or alias email).
  • Graduating? Follow these steps to switch your primary e-mail from your St.Thomas e-mail account to to your personal e-mail account: Managing your Badgr Account
    • Note: this step should not be done until the completion of your last St. Thomas issued badge.
