You need to have access enabled in order to connect to Scalelogic spaces. If you do not have access, follow this link to request access.
If you are a Mac user:
- If you are a remote user, be sure you are logged into VPN / Global Protect
- If you are a local on-campus user, be sure you are logged in on your system as yourself (your regular 4 letter 4 number login).
- Wired local connection is best, but if you are on WiFi, be sure you are connected to "UST", not "UST-Open".
- At “Finder” go to “Go” and “Connect to Server”
- Then enter the path of the drive you need to connect to
- For any other drive than the above (such as "Athletics", "STELAR", "TheCrest", "emedia[course number]", etc), the path is smb://140.209.4.55/
- If you know the drive you need to connect to, you can also enter that in the full address, such as smb://140.209.4.55/athletics
- If you do not know the drive specific syntax (such as “athletics”) just enter the IP, that’s fine, you can choose from the drive in the next step
- Enter your UST ID [john0001]
- Do not enter your vanity address [john.doe@stthomas.edu]
- If you are a remote user, be sure you are using your UST ID, NOT your local Mac account login credentials.
- Select the drive you wish to connect to:
- So, for instance in screen shot, select “athletics”
- You should now be connected to the drive.
- First time connection can take a few moments to connect
- Also, it is recommended to make an alias to the drive in case you disconnect, etc.
- Right click or control click on the drive that is mounted
- Select “Make Alias” from pop up menu
- You can also move the alias to OneDrive so it is backed up.
- Repeat this process for any and all drives you wish to connect
If you are a PC user:
- Open a regular Windows File Explorer window (NOT an Internet browser window)
- Single right click on the icon for “This PC” on the left of the window and scroll down to “Map Network Drive”
- On the pop up dialogue that appears, select a drive letter you are not using (Z is usually open)
- See screen shot below to reference in next steps
- Enter the address of the server and share you are trying to reach.
- Be sure that the “Reconnect at sign-in” box is checked
- Enter your UST ID [john0001]
- Do not enter your vanity address [john.doe@stthomas.edu]
- Select Finish
- Any time you log in going forward, your drive(s) you’ve mounted this way will mount.
- You can also create a shortcut to the drive once it is mounted in case you need to easily re-connect in the future.
- See image below to reference in next steps
-
- In a Windows Explorer window (not Internet browser window), open “This PC”
- You will see all drives including your newly mapped Scalelogic drive(s)
- Right click on the drive you wish to create a shortcut
- Scroll down to “Create Shortcut” on the pop up menu
- Place the shortcut on your desktop
- You can also move the shortcut to your OneDrive for backup
- Repeat this process for any and all drives you wish to connect
VPN (remote) access is not currently enabled on all drives and will be handled on a per-user request basis.
