On the iPhone you may be able to view St. Thomas email through the Apple Mail app by following the below directions. Should the below directions not work we recommend using the Outlook app that is available for free from the Apple app store on the device.
Our University accounts are hosted by Microsoft Exchange. Microsoft and third parties like Apple, Google, Samsung, etc. do not guarantee or support Microsoft Exchange accounts working in third party apps (like Apple Mail/Calendar, Gmail app, Samsung Mail/calendar). We've shared the basic setup tips that we've found most likely to work, but we cannot ensure these apps will work reliably. For best results, use Microsoft Outlook or other supported tools. The Outlook application is the recommended way to view UST email outside of the browser. Other mail and calendar apps provide unpredictable success and results.
Instructions
- Ensure your device is on it's most current Operating system Version and has all updates installed
- Ensure that your Mail application is completely updated
- Open the Settings app
- Scroll down and choose "Mail"
- Choose "Accounts"
- Choose "Add Account"
- Choose "Microsoft Exchange"
- Enter info:
- Email: username@stthomas.edu (where 'username' is your St. Thomas username)
- Description: (type a name for the account, such as "St. Thomas")
- Click Next
- At the prompt, choose "Sign In"
- The St. Thomas login page appears. Sign in with your account.
- Choose which items from your Microsoft account you want to sync with your device by toggling the sliders next to Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Reminders, and Notes.
- Click "Save."
- Check Mail and other apps, as needed, to verify that your data is accessible. Note that you might have to wait a few minutes for data to download before it is available.
