Vanity Email: Frequently Asked Questions

This service is for faculty, staff, and students.

If you wish to have a more professional and customized email for correspondence, you can request a vanity email address that reflects your name.

How does a vanity email work?

When you use a vanity email address, it gives you a more recognizable email address. For example, instead of others seeing your original username smit1234@stthomas.edu, they will see john.smith@stthomas.edu. They are both active email addresses and go to the same inbox. You can share either of them for corresponding, but you will only use your original username to login to your account and campus resources.

What email do I login with?

You will always login to university systems with your St. Thomas username@stthomas.edu.

Your username begins with the first four letters of your last name followed by a series of randomized numbers.

How do I request a vanity email address?

To request a new vanity email address or to change your existing vanity address, submit the request here.

How many times can I change my vanity email address?

You can change your vanity email address multiple times, however you can only have one active vanity email address. Changing your vanity email will cause your previous vanity email address to no longer be valid. This is important to note if you have a legal name change or change marital status during your time at St. Thomas.
