The following table lists known issues in Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 and how to address them.

Load External Data File Directly from Report

In trying to connect to an external data source, after selecting the Excel file, the OK button doesn’t respond and remains greyed out.

Workaround: Save the Excel file as .xls (from .xlsx) and then the OK button will accept the external data.

Links in Reports

Links to reports in email missing periodically from scheduled reports or jobs.

Workaround: Try to de-select the "Send Report with Link" and then reclick to reset the options

Resolved in 11.1.7 fix pack 3 or 11.2

Jobs Existing Jobs fails to open with "Failed to retrieve job steps” error. This occurs when the link to an underlying report within the job step definition is broken.

Workaround: Submit a Software Error Reporting Service Request for help if you encounter this error.

My schedules and subscriptions

In My schedules and subscriptions, Run once only works for one report and then doesn’t respond for subsequent reports.

Workaround: Refresh the browser tab, and then use Run once again

Running reports

When running a report interactively to the screen, for longer running reports, the "Working" message and Cancel button are missing.

Running reports - Deliver in Background When you run a report in the background to be delivered by email and do not edit email options, the report fails with the following error.

CNC-DS-0015 Error extracting options.


Workaround: On the Run as screen, after you select Send report by email, notice that says "No recipients." Click Edit options and this will add you as the recipient, and then you can run the report successfully.

Schedules In report properties, unable to click Use my credentials link to take ownership of a schedule.

Workarounds: Either delete the existing schedule and create a new schedule or contact the Business Intelligence Team (CIS-ReportingTeam@brown.edu) for help changing the owner of a schedule.
