This article lists the required steps and cost estimates to install a flat panel display on the University of St. Thomas campuses.  Work will be coordinated by St. Thomas ITS and performed by St. Thomas Facilities Management in conjunction with our preferred vendors.  Installation times are subject to the schedule and capacity of our personnel.

Flat Panel Display Installation Process

Project Intake

The ITS AV department will field all initial requests for flat panel displays for digital signage, presentation, or cable TV viewing.  ITS AV will then provide cost estimates and confirm that clients are aware of our safety/aesthetic standards and have secured proper funding.

Initial Work Order

ITS AV will submit a work order to Facilities Management for the installation of the wall backer and wall bracket.

Working with a 3rd Party Vendor

ITS AV will coordinate the power and data installation after consulting with Facilities Management.

Final Install Phase

After the bracket, power and data are installed ITS AV will install the flat panel display.  Final wiring, configuration, training and inventory updates will be done at this time.

Flat Panel Display Installation Cost Estimates

All prices are estimates based on previous projects and may fluctuate above or below cost depending on scope of work.

An electrical outlet will be installed at the display location.  All efforts must be made for this outlet to be completely covered by the display.  This is a requirement to avoid trip hazards and create a clean aesthetic to the installed display.

Leasing vs. Purchasing a Flat Panel Display

A display can be purchased at full price through IT Services by providing a cost index.  A purchased display will be owned by your department.  The purchase of another display for repair or replacement in the future will be the responsibility of your department.

A leased display can be provided by ITS.  The cost of this display will be broken down into an annual charge to your department’s technology lease budget.  The display will be part of a replacement cycle to maintain fresh and usable equipment.  This annual cost is continual and may fluctuate to maintain the lease process.  A leased display can be bought out.  Future replacement of the display would then be discontinued.  Availability of leased displays varies.  Leased displays may only be available at the beginning of a new lease cycle occurring annually in the spring.

Contact ITS for up to date pricing on displays and leases.

Estimated cost... $1000.00 - $5000.00

Estimated annual lease cost... $250.00 - $1250.00
