Welcome! Let's get you setup in your St. Thomas account.
Your account allows you to login to your St. Thomas email, Canvas, Murphy Online, OneStThomas, campus computers, and other resources for the duration of your time here at the university.
Activate Your Account
Go to stthomas.edu/new to claim your account and activate it today.
To activate your account you will need your St. Thomas ID Number.
- New Students can locate their St. Thomas ID Number in the Admissions Applicant Portal shortly after being accepted to the university.
- Returning Students (including graduate students) who attended St. Thomas in a previous term will use the same username and ID number from your previous enrollment.
- New Employees receive information regarding their username and St. Thomas ID Number via email after accepting your new position at the university.
Note: Your St. Thomas account will automatically expire on the following schedule:
- Students: 365 days after your last active term or due to graduation
- Faculty: 30 days after university records indicate that the faculty member is no longer an active employee
- Staff: Last Day Worked
Create Your Password
When creating your password, it must follow the guidelines below:
- at least 15 characters in length
- at least (1) uppercase letter
- at least (1) lowercase letter
- at least (1) number
- may not include your first name or last name
- may not include your username
- may not include the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
- may not include any of the following special characters: # ` \
- may not be more than 127 characters in length
- may not be any of previous 10 passwords.
You can reset it any time by going to stthomas.edu/password.
Setup Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
This process ensures it is really you logging into your account and protects your personal information.
To get started, you will need to be at a computer and have a phone that can receive SMS texts. For step-by-step instructions, please visit our Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): First Time Setup article.
Setup Challenge Questions & Login Options
In case you forget your password or need to reset it for any reason, you'll want to make sure you setup your authentication options ahead of time. Then, if you're across the world on vacation, at a conference, studying abroad, or trying to login while the tech desk is closed, you can still access your account in a breeze!
- Go to Microsoft's Account Management Portal
- Once logged in you will be able to add your phone number, email, and setup challenge questions to your account.
