Printing: How to print from a personal device with MobilityPrint

This service is for faculty, staff, student employees, and students.

ITS recommends PaperCut's MobilityPrint when printing directly from a personal computer.

Note that, depending on your role, you may need to first install the PaperCut pop-up utility on your computer in order to print:

  • The PaperCut pop-up utility is required by default for all faculty, staff, and student employees.
  • Students who have never worked on campus will NOT need the PaperCut pop-up utility installed on their computer. These students' print jobs will automatically print when sent to a printer. Be sure to check your PaperCut account balance often by logging in to the PaperCut user portal or OneStThomas.

How to add a printer to Windows using MobilityPrint

Watch the video available from PaperCut or follow the instructions below.

  1. Download and run the MobilityPrint installer from PaperCut.
  2. The program will automatically detect available printers in public buildings and residence halls. Identify printers by their building code and room number (such as "OEC008" in the example below). Select all printers that you may need, and click Next.

  3. You will be prompted to provide your St. Thomas username and password. Click Next.

  4. Click Finish, and you're done!

 

For users needing the full Papercut client

  1. Download “PaperCut-Windows.zip” (Hint: After following the link, click the Download button in the toolbar at the top of the page.)
  2. Right click the .zip file and select “Extract All”
  3. Open the extracted folder, “PaperCut-PC”
  4. Open the folder "Win"
  5. Double-click the file “client-local-install.exe”
  6. Follow the install wizard to install PaperCut
  7. Restart your computer

How to add a printer to macOS using MobilityPrint

  1. Be sure you are connected to the UST network.
  2. On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners
  3. Click the "+" button.

  4. You will see available printers in public spaces and residence halls. Select the printer you wish to add, and click Add.

  5. The printer is now added to your Mac.

 

For users needing the full Papercut Client

  1. Download “PaperCut-Mac‌” (Hint: After following the link, click the Download button in the toolbar at the top of the page.)
  2. Double-click the .zip file to extract the "PaperCut-Mac.pkg" file.
  3. Double-click the PaperCut-Mac.pkg file and follow the prompts.
  4. Launch the "PCClient" app from your Applications folder to launch PaperCut. You may also add "PCClient" to your Login Items in Settings if you wish to have PaperCut automatically start when you login.

How to print from your iOS or iPadOS device using MobilityPrint

Please note that printing from iOS is not available to students with on-campus employment due to the need for the full PaperCut Client.
