The steps below explain how to add a St. Thomas MFP in macOS so that you may access the device's finishing options (stapling, etc.).
Add printer with finishing options
- You will need to record two pieces of information for use later. You’ll need the queue name and model of the copier.
- Queue Name: The easiest way to get the queue name is to follow the traditional steps to install a printer. This will generate a printer list that you can get the queue name from, i.e., SCC209-6189-C
- Model: Visit the copier and note the model listed on the front, i.e., MX-M4071
- Open System Settings on your Mac. Scroll down and click on Printers and Scanners.
- Click on Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… (see above image).
- In the Add Printer window, click the globe icon in the top menu.
- Click on the Protocol menu and select Line Printer Daemon – LPD (see above image).
- Enter one of the addresses below based on the campus you’re on in Address (see below image).
- STP: ust-pm2p.stthomas.edu
- MPLS: ust-pm3p.stthomas.edu
- Enter the queue name in the Queue and Name text boxes (see image).
- Click the Use menu and select Select Software (see above and below image).
- Enter the model number in the search box, select it from the results list, and click OK.
- Click Add. The next popup will allow you to select the options on the copier.
Under the Output Tray Options, select Finisher. Finally, click OK.
Conclusion
Your printer is now added with stapling functionality. Don’t worry if you skipped this last step. You can always adjust the option settings of the printer.
Just access the printer under System Settings --> Printers & Scanner --> Click on printer --> Click on Options & Supplies --> Click Options tab. Here you’ll be able to adjust the finisher option as well as the three-hole punch.
