What is the Qualtrics LTI?
The Qualtrics LTI (a.k.a. "DRiEAM", pronounced dream) is a tool that integrates Qualtrics surveys into Canvas. This allows students to complete Qualtrics surveys without having to leave their Canvas environment to go to a separate link or tab, and allows instructors to assign and grade student completion of Qualtrics surveys from all from within their Canvas site.
How does Qualtrics LTI work?

The Qualtrics LTI links surveys from Qualtrics to Canvas, below are the basic steps:
- In your Qualtrics account, you develop and publish a survey.
- Next, head to the Qualtrics LTI (in Canvas) and add this survey to your Canvas environment.
- Lastly, go to a course in Canvas and distribute the survey as an assignment.
- Once students complete the survey, the results will be recorded in Canvas and Qualtrics.

How do I get started?
Step 1: Request access to the Qualtrics LTI via this knowledge base article
- Select "Click to Request Service" in the top righthand corner of this page.
- Request access to use the Qualtrics LTI, and someone from Instructional Technology will let you know when access has been granted.
Step 2: Prepare your survey in Qualtrics
- In OneStThomas, navigate to "APPS AND TOOLS" and select "Qualtrics"
- Login with your University of St. Thomas credentials
- Create your survey (i.e., "Project")

Step 3: Connect your Canvas and Qualtrics accounts in Canvas
- First click on the Account button in the Canvas Global Navigation and navigate to Qualtrics in the list.
- Click on the dropdown menu to select the Qualtrics domain you want to login to.
- Select University of St Thomas Qualtrics, stthomas.az1.qualtrics.com

- After selecting the domain you can press 'Login now'.
- This will cause a pop-up to appear. Login with SSO using your UST credentials.
- You will now see the Survey overview page. On the survey overview page, you can add and manage surveys linked to Canvas.
Step 4: Create an Assignment with the Qualtrics LTI in Canvas
- In your Canvas course, create an assignment
- In the assignment settings, go to Submission Type > External Tools > Find > Qualtrics > Select
- You'll be able to select additional settings for the survey such as automatically sending reminders to those who haven't completed the survey and more.
