Here are some common Cognos issues and fixes to try if you’re not able to access your report or dashboard: 

HTTP ERROR 431 "Request Header Fields Too Large"

If you see one of these sad messages on your browser or see “HTTP ERROR 431” anywhere on the screen, you’ve been using Cognos too much. 😊 This error happens often when using Cognos as it saves a lot of cookies to your browser. The good news is that it’s an easy fix! Here’s how to clear your cache/cookies. Note: When clearing cookies and prompted for a “Time Range,” select “All time.” Then you will need to close your browser, reopen it, and login again. Ta da! Access restored. 

 

"An attempt to connect to the data source failed” 

Data Source connection error

If you get this error, then one of two things is happening: 

  1. You’re trying to access something you don’t have access to 

  1. Your account was locked or deactivated 

Hit the “Report Incident” button and we’ll work on getting you in! 

 

HTTP ERROR 503 "Service Unavailable"

This one’s on us. There’s something wrong with the server. Please hit the “Report Incident” button and fill out the form to let us know! 

 

"NO_NODES_TO_FORWARD_TO” 

No nodes to forward to error screen

So, our bad. This is a server issue. Hit the “Report Incident” button above and let us know!
