Print, Scan, & Fax: Connect to a network printer from a Personal PC with Print Deploy

This service is for faculty, staff, and students.

The instructions below describe how to use the PaperCut Print Deploy app to connect to a network printer for printing from a personal Windows computer.

 

Install the Papercut client and Print Deploy app

Install the PaperCut Client

  • Download “PaperCut-Windows.zip” 
    • After following the link, click the Download button in the toolbar at the top of the page.
  • Right click the .zip file and select “Extract All”
  • Open the extracted folder, “PaperCut-PC”
  • Open the folder "Win"
  • Double-click the file “client-local-install.exe”
  • Follow the install wizard to install PaperCut
  • Restart your computer

Install the Print Deploy app

 

Install a network printer using PaperCut Print Deploy

  • Ensure that the PaperCut Print Deploy app is installed on your computer and running.
  • Open the PaperCut Print Deploy Client by clicking the little up arrow in the lower right corner of your screen in the taskbar to open the tray, and then clicking on the printer icon

  • If you are prompted to log in, enter your St. Thomas username (without the @stthomas.edu) and password, then click "Sign in and add printers."

  • Currently installed printers are displayed under "My printers." To add a printer, choose "Add printers" in the left men

  • In the search box in the top-right corner of the app, type the building code for the printer you wish to add (such as "OEC" or "SCC," etc.)
  • When you locate the printer you wish to add, click the "Install" button.

  • That's it! The printer is added to your computer's list of printers.

 

Remove a network printer using PaperCut Print Deploy

  • Open the Print Deploy app and log in if prompted.
  • In the "My printers" screen that appears, click the trash can icon next to the printer you wish to remove.

  • Within a few seconds, the printer is removed from your computer.
