The Technology Intake Process (TIP) is utilized to review new or new uses of existing technologies and is intended to “engage the right experts, at the right time, to deliver the right solution”.
The first step in exploring new technology is to reach out to your Business Relationship Manager (BRM). They can help you clearly define your high-level requirements, and even walk you through completing the Technology Intake Request Form on Tommie Tech Services. Once you have made your request, it is reviewed by ITS teams with expertise relevant to your unique request. Those same teams will partner with you to ensure you have a functional and cost-effective solution.
NOTE: As you consider new technologies or new uses for existing technologies, be sure to start a conversation with the Purchasing team to understand the necessary steps and timing. Also, you will need to log in to Tommie Tech Services to submit a TIP request.

The Technology Intake Process is comprised of individual steps organized into four general stages, including Intake, Review, Decision, and Solution.

Details
- Intake
- Campus and Embedded Technology Partners should contact their assigned BRM partner to initiate a discussion.
- Following ongoing consultation between the Campus Partner and BRM partners, the Tech Intake Process (TIP) request is initiated in Tommie Tech Services using the Tech Intake Request Form.
- Review
- After the TIP request has been submitted, the ITS BRM Team, Contracts, Implementation, Security, and Application teams will assess the request as part of the Initial Request Review process.
- If the Initial Request Review results in a decision to initiate a Business Case Review, the ITS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will contribute their perspectives and fully participate in the Business Case Review process through the Provide SME Feedback process.
- The Business Case Review will result in a recommended path forward for the TIP request.
- At any point during the TIP workflow the Campus Partner may ask for a decision to be escalated to ITS AVPs by initiating the Challenge a Decision process.
- Solution
- Depending on the decision made during the TIP workflow, ITS BRM partners will review next steps and consult with Campus Partners.
- The BRM reports back to the Campus Partner within two business days following a decision.
